Additional verses pertaining to pastoral ministry:

Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them — not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade
away.  1 Peter 5:2-4

Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. 2 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. 3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we
may appoint over this business; 4 but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”  Acts 6:1-4

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encouragewith great patience and careful instruction.  2 Timothy 4:2

Unless otherwise noted, these data points were derived from a geographic area within a radius of a 15-minute drive from Bethany. The demographic data was generated through MissionInsite® and provided to us by Steve Laughman of the Centennial Baptist Association.

The purpose is to inform the Bethany Congregation, Search Committee and prospective Pastors of the community characteristics surrounding Bethany. This information can ultimately be used to strategically develop and promote various in-reach and outreach programs and activities directed at growing the Church and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Bethany is located near the southeast Monroe County and northwest Bibb County lines within the juncture of the suburban/rural interface near the town of Bolingbroke.

Within the 15-minute drive of Bethany the human population is presently 36,556 with an expected growth rate of 2.9% over the next 5 years to around 37,614 people. Within that population the predominate racial ethnic profile is 57% white, 32% black, and 4% Asian. Within a 10-minute drive that profile significantly changes to 77% white and 14% black.

The average age is 42 years and projected to increase only to 43 years over the next 10 years. This stabilization in the average age suggests increased growth in younger age classes which is supported by projected increases in singles and young adult families in the 25 to 54 ages classes. It is important to note that these younger demographic age classes are currently underrepresented at Bethany, suggesting a need for increased and targeted outreach and ministry programs.
